Playstation 4: Sony postpones The Last of Us 2 indefinitely

The action adventure The Last of Us 2, which many Playstation 4 owners have been looking forward to with anticipation, will not be released as planned on May 29, 2020 – but at a later date that has not yet been mentioned. The launch of Iron Man VR, which should come on May 15, 2020, will also be postponed.

Job market

  1. Bavarian Supply Chamber, Munich
  2. Scheidt & Bachmann GmbH, Mönchengladbach

That has Sony known on Twitter given. “Logistics problems due to the global crisis prevent us from providing the starting experience our players deserve”, writes the company.

Apart from the two games mentioned “currently” no further postponements planned. At the moment there is still a big title at Sony with an appointment, namely the Ghost of Tsushima announced for June 26, 2020.

What is specifically meant by logistics problems is unclear. At least in The Last of Us 2, one might not want to market a game in the middle of the corona pandemic, which is located in a post-apocalyptic world after a plague, and which sends the protagonists to a largely deserted and destroyed metropolis.

In the campaign, players, like the predecessor released in 2013, fight together with the main heroine Ellie against people who are infected and mutated by a fungus. Five years after the first part, Ellie and her older companion Joel settled in Wyoming. When an act of violence undermines peace, the two travel back to the big city.

Another reason for the shift could be that almost all employees of the developer studio Naughty Dog work in the home office and therefore the production cannot be completed on time.

The Last of Us 2 is said to be enormously extensive and use large amounts of assets. As a result, the updates between the central servers and the developers should take a long time.
