Go Ahead Eagles defender Gerrit Nauber is in the right place in the Netherlands. The thirty-year-old German shares his best moments as a player in conversation with Voetbal International Kuwait.
Nauber is said to have attracted interest from clubs in Germany and France. “From France? Then you know more than I do,” he laughs VI. Nauber states that all options are open. “I’m also having a great time here. It’s the club, it’s the people. But also the sporting results”, he makes a bridge to top competitions in the Eredivisie. “How many times do you think I lost to Ajax? Zero times! Played three times, not lost. The best was last season.”
“They had just won at Borussia Dortmund (3-1). Four days later we drew (0-0). You understand that such a story is particularly good at birthdays,” says Nauber with a wink. “Certainly in my family, where there are the necessary Dortmund fans. What I mean to say: this is a special club. To understand that you only have to look around you.”
Nauber lived for a while in Vetkampstraat, the street adjacent to De Adelaarhorst. “On match days it is also completely full of red and yellow flags here,” said the German. “Only when you live among the people do you really feel how the club lives. Everything revolves around Go Ahead.”
