It is this evening that Quebec forward Alexis Lafrenière will know the identity of the team for which he will play as the lottery is held to determine the very first choice in the next NHL draft.
Everything will be broadcast from 6 p.m. on TVA Sports and TVA Sports direct.
The Rimouski Oceanic forward will thus know his fate since the team that will play luck in the lottery should, logically, select him at the very first level of the amateur auction.
A first draw was made a few weeks ago to determine the lucky team, however, it was the ball of one of the eight losing teams in the qualifying round for the playoffs that was drawn.
So the New York Rangers, Florida Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild, Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators all have 12.5 % to be the lucky team.
It is the destination of choice for Lafrenière, who could play in the NHL from next year with players like Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews or Artemi Panarin.
In 52 games last year in the QMJHL, Lafrenière amassed 112 points in addition to helping Team Canada win gold at the World Junior Hockey Championship.
While Lafrenière will undoubtedly be selected first, other top prospects will also be available in this draft, such as German Tim Stützle or giant format forward Quinton Byfield.
