PKO Ekstraklasa: Jagiellonia Białystok – Lechia Gdańsk, result, match report

  • Both teams are still aiming high and want to join the fight for the places awarded by playing in the Europa League qualifying rounds
  • On Sunday, the fans watched an interesting match, and the hosts won the lead just before the break. The rivals’ reply came immediately after the sides changed
  • The guest hero was Łukasz Zwoliński, who brilliantly fulfilled the role of “joker” in this match

Jagiellonia joined the meeting after a series of three matches without a win on their own pitch. The hosts hoped to break this bad run on Sunday, which ended with only two points scored for them (draws with Wisla Płock and Legia Warsaw and defeat with Piast Gliwice). It was clear, however, that it would not be easy for them, because Lechia did not lose at the rivals facility of the last five meetings and did not intend to slow down the pace.

Footballers of the Podlasie Duma started this meeting very bravely, wanting to dominate the rival from the beginning. After a little over a quarter of the game it should be 1: 0. Maciej Makuszewski showed a beautiful perpendicular pass, but Przemysław Mystkowski allowed the goalkeeper to knock the ball and knock it out from under the feet of the Jagiellonia youth. I must admit, however, that it was the perfect intervention of the guest goalkeeper.

The hosts prevailed, and Lechia was focused on playing with a counterattack. The forward goalkeeper bravely tried to surprise the recently successful Flavio Paixao, but did so inaccurately and the ball passed the post.

Meanwhile, Kuciak was definitely the guest hero. In the 34th minute, Makuszewski brilliantly paired a corner kick and saved his team again from losing a goal. This opportunity could have a strong revenge on Jagiellonia, because Jaroslav Michalik was on the other side of the field and only the sacrificial intervention of Zoran Arsenicia prevented the ball from getting into the net. Jagiellonia “stung” the opponents before the break, however: Jesus Imaz showed off a great pass from the right wing, and Jakov Puljić, unattended, gave the shot a header.

The home players had to stay in their cloakroom with their thoughts, because only two minutes of the game passed, and the scoreboard 1: 1 appeared. Łukasz Zwoliński, introduced during the break, showed off an excellent shot from the air, perfectly fitting into the role of “joker”, outlined by his trainer, Piotr Stokowiec.

Jagiellonia clearly irritated by the loss of the goal, moved forward, but could not find a way to rivals. Meanwhile, after an hour of play, it was close to being rebuked for the second time. A big mistake was made by Damian Węglarz, who uncertainly left the goal and missed the ball. However, I ended up in fear. The same happened a few minutes later, when Jarosław Kubicki’s pass was terribly wasted Zwoliński, moving the ball over the bar.

Lechia’s striker, however, played a great match and hit the net again, hitting powerfully. The referee however saw – rightly – burned and did not recognize the goal. What is delaying … Sniper finally got his way and after a beautiful party he sent the ball between the legs of the intervening Hungarian.

Lechia was completely dominated by rivals, but she could answer. Puljić made a headshot, but Kuciak was at the station this time. By the end of the meeting – with dissatisfied fans – the result has not changed. Tomasz Prikril had an excellent opportunity to equalize, but his shot paired with Kristers Tobers head and another loss of points at home Jagiellonia became a fact.
