Piñata Music Series Festival to Showcase Diverse Lineup of International Artists in Barcelona

Barcelona, Oct 23 (EFE).- The Piñata Music series festival starts this coming Friday, October 27 at the Barcelona venue Paral·lel 62 with a program that will feature twelve concerts and will bring together 23 artists from 14 different countries.

Piñata Music Series proposes varied styles of music, including jazz, fusion, Latin music, soul and funk, among others.

The Barcelona native Alex Serra and the French-Venezuelan La Chica (Sophie Fustec) will share the stage this Friday to offer the first of the twelve concerts of the festival cycle.

Serra will present his new album, “Trance Life”, an album created in Ibiza, where the artist moved after the pandemic, which features the collaborations of Le Saumet, from Bomba Estéreo and Julia Ortiz, from Perotá Chingó, and brings together various artists from different disciplines.

The concert will feature urban and contemporary dance from the KAMPAI Dance Co company and visuals from NA LUA (Aina Oset).

She will be followed by Chica, an artist born in Paris, to a Venezuelan mother and French father, who in 2022 published “La Loba”, an album that mixes female empowerment with spirituality.

On Saturday the 28th it will be the turn of Azymuth, a Brazilian popular music group, who will present their amalgamation of jazz, funk, samba and electronica.

Throughout their career, which spans half a century, Azymuth has released around thirty albums in interrupted succession since 1973, a time during which they have collaborated, together or separately, with the rapper Madlib or the singer-songwriter Marcos Valle.

On the same Saturday, the concert of Mitú, an electronic music duo of Julián Salazar, former guitarist of the psychedelic cumbia band Bomba Estéreo, and Franklin Tejedor, percussionist of the rhythmic traditions of Palenque, will take place.

The series will continue with two concerts next week, the first will be that of Corinne Bailey Rae (November 1), author of “Put your record on” and the second will be that of the American José James and the Dutchman Benny Sings (November 2 ).

Most concerts will be doubles, so those who attend will be able to see an artist they already know, as well as one they don’t yet. EFE
