Pieter Omtzigt rules out a return to the CDA. He will resume his work as a Member of Parliament on September 15 after an absence of six months due to a burnout and does so independently, as Groep Omtzigt. “I have made a well-considered decision,” says Omtzigt in the first interview he gives since he became ill in March.

Pieter Omtzigt canceled his CDA membership on 12 June. In CDA circles there is still hope that the Enschedeër will return to the party of which he had been a member since 2003. Various CDA departments from all over the country will submit a motion at the party congress next Saturday that instructs the party board to make an attempt at reconciliation.
