‘Pieter may have to say sorry’ – The Daily Standard

Yesterday, a CDA committee presented the findings of an investigation into what did not go wrong with the party in the run-up to the elections. The committee believes that the party should not hold party leaders elections in the future. In addition, committee chairman Liesbeth Spies, also mayor of Alphen aan de Rijn, also believed that both the CDA and Pieter Omtzigt should apologize. The party leaders still don’t seem to get it.

The committee specially set up by the CDA presented its findings to party chairman Marnix van Rij yesterday. It is not the findings in the report that cause a stir, but the statements of committee chairman Spies. She believes that several people should apologize to each other, including Pieters Omtzigt. The way she presented this suggests that she is not particularly concerned with the suffering suffered towards Omtzigt, who has literally been bullied and bullied away by her party members and party leaders.

It almost seems as if Spies has been hiding under a rock. “When I say sorry to Pieter, I also say that Pieter may need to say sorry to others.” In my opinion, the CDA member has not fully understood that Omtzigt cannot be blamed for much. After the issue of ‘function elsewhere’ and the leaked cabinet documents, it became clear that both the CDA and the other coalition parties would rather have lost Omtzigt than were rich. For years a whisper campaign has been conducted against the ex-CDA member and in addition, his diligent work has been deliberately slowed down and thwarted.

It is a hallucinatory thought that in this case both parties have to apologize to each other. The top of the CDA has ruined itself and has also contributed to getting rid of Omtzigt. No, Omtzigt certainly doesn’t have to apologize. You must have it from your (ex) party members…
