New York The corona pandemic hit New York with full force. Not only are hospitals reaching their capacity limits, but also morgues. Pandemic deaths are now being brought into refrigerated trucks.

With the increase in corona infections in the USA, the number of deaths from the lung disease Covid-19 is also increasing. More than 4,000 deaths were registered as of Wednesday – 40 percent of them in New York state alone.

Not only are the lack of treatment beds in New York hospitals a problem, there is also hardly any space left for corpses. The governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, has repeatedly appealed to the government in Washington for help in the past few days. The disaster control agency Fema sent among other things 85 refrigerated trucks. As a makeshift, the wagons were converted into temporary morgues.

New York Forensic Medicine also set up a makeshift morgue, as it had last done after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, to house the bodies.
