PICTURES. Crowded beaches, empty terraces … How life gradually resumes on the Var coast

Beaches, promenade by the sea … with an almost summer weather there were people this weekend in the city of palm trees but also on the water between the coast and the islands.

With an almost summer weather, the Hyeres coast, whether at Almanarre in the west or on the side of the Badine until the naturist beach of Salins, found throughout the weekend its regulars.

Again on Monday, the seaside promenade between the airport and the Ayguade saw many hikers and runners on one side, rarely masked, and a few meters away, on the cycle path, rollerbladers and two-wheelers.

“This is a first for us since the deconfinement. It has been complicated with our little one of 20 months for two months it is good to be able to ventilate”, confided yesterday a Hyérois family.

Also very popular, the body of water between the mainland and the Golden Isles where a number of jet skis, semi-rigid, rigid and sailboats were sailing at the end of this extended weekend.

“We worked very well all weekend. Today I am full. I had fourteen boats (rigid and semi-rigid) for hire”, testifies Nicolas Godbout the owner of Route du Sud, installed for 30 years on the port Saint-Pierre.

“We have reopened since May 11 but then the weather has not been good. But as soon as it started to get sunny, we worked well. Generally in this season, the clientele comes from the region, there we had a local clientele, made up of Hyérois. People who had never come. It’s fabulous. They saved us. “

At Route du Sud, the resumption of activity is not yet complete. Only 14 of the 26 boats are for hire and one employee is still partially unemployed.

As for the clients of the boat rental company, the majority took to the islands this weekend, like the Vincent family crossed on Monday in the port, in full check before boarding.

“We are going to make a buoy, anchor in Porquerolles and picnic there”, said Frédéric, who came from Aix for a first trip at sea.

It remained for him to choose one of the three beaches on the island open for family lunch, the Courtade, the Silver Beach or Notre-Dame which had his preference …
