Russian actor Mikhail Yefremov, who caused a tragic accident while driving under the influence of alcohol in the center of Moscow, was hospitalized in a serious condition, Russian media reported.
Yefremov, 56, who is currently on trial for causing an accident under the influence of intoxication, was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit. He was taken to the hospital from the courthouse, where the case was scheduled to be heard.
Jefremov felt bad before going to court, so he was brought into the courthouse with his help, but after a while the actors took him out and put him in an “ambulance” car. His lawyer said doctors suspected a pre-stroke or pre-stroke condition.
His condition is described as severe, but no further information is currently provided.
As previously reported, Jefremov pleaded guilty to an accident in which a car driver was killed and an actor was hit. The actor did not suffer an accident, while the other driver was seriously injured and died in hospital.
Jefremov faces up to 12 years in prison.
