In a new episode of ‘Welcome To The AA’, the podcast by Alex Agnew and Andries Beckers, Philippe Geubels reveals that he has lens implants. He still wears his glasses every now and then. “It’s hard for me to take it off because everyone knows me that way.”

Geubels had wanted lens implants for a long time, but for various reasons he did not. “My glasses were the only thing that gave my head some color. If you don’t have hair, glasses still give some character. Moreover, my logo is a head with glasses. Without glasses, that’s nothing anymore,” he laughs.
But the pros of surgery outweighed the cons. “I really didn’t see anything: I had -6 and almost -7. If you want to swim, that’s terrible. I also like to dive, but that is a fiddling with lenses every time. And there are things that you think less about, such as sex. You always have to choose: do I shit with my glasses, or do I not see her (laughs).” The arrival of mouth masks did not make it any easier for spectaclers, so Geubels opted for implants. “I have never had much trouble with my glasses, but I now notice how wonderful it is without them.”
Placing lens implants is a piece of cake, says the Taboo presenter. Except for him. “It only takes six minutes per eye to sting them. They don’t even have to put you to sleep for it. Although I did, because I’m a real asshole (laughs).”
