“The demand for PCR tests that demonstrate acute Covid 19 contamination exceeds our production,” said CEO Christoph Franz in an interview with the Swiss newspaper Daily indicator. The production of test products will therefore be further increased.

Roche says to prioritize test supplies and look at where testing is most needed, such as in countries where infection rates are high. The company also supplies diagnostic devices to countries that lack the equipment to analyze the tests.

Vaccine

Roche is also working on a vaccine against Covid-19, but the results are uncertain and it is not clear how long that vaccine will protect against the virus.

According to CEO Franz, the turnover of medicines in other areas is decreasing because patients are less likely to visit general practitioners and hospitals because of the prevailing virus.
