Phantom credit companies are on the rise; They offer attractive loans and defraud people: Fernando García

The PT deputy proposes to reform the law to guarantee timely follow-up of the complaints filed for this type of act

Legislative Palace, 03-05-2022 (Notilegis).- Deputy Jesús Fernando García Hernández (PT) asserted that “the lack of employment and the accumulation of debt prompt many people to seek financial loans, a situation that criminal groups take advantage of to commit scams. , by creating shell companies that offer loans with low interest and minimum requirements”.

In a statement, he delved into the fact that these alleged lenders build false cyber portals and telephone centers, which give the appearance of reality and legality; however, after offering their victims immediate money loans, they request, as part of the requirements, advance payment deposits, and once the fraud has been committed, they disappear.

Given this situation, the legislator for Sinaloa proposed to reform the Law for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users, with the aim of expanding the powers of the National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users (Condusef).

“This reform seeks to guarantee a timely follow-up of the complaints filed with the Public Ministry, due to the presumption of facts that could constitute crimes against the economic assets of users of financial services,” he explained.

He urged to give greater powers to the Condusef, because these cases are increasing. “It has been detected that false companies also resort to identity theft of other legally established ones and when they have already hooked people, they offer them immediate deposits with availability of money, but to release the credit they ask them to first cover minimum payments in advance. People end up being victims of fraud.”
