Outgoing Minister Ernst Kuipers continues to strive to offer everyone a well-stocked and well-functioning health environment by 2025, so that they can have access to their own health data. The road there has many bumps and delays.
User-friendliness leaves much to be desired
“PGOs are still in full development and not everything is possible yet,” acknowledges Arthur Schellekens, director of the Patient Federation. “We notice that the user-friendliness leaves a lot to be desired as a result of, among other things, the strict safety requirements. It is quite complicated for a large group of people to start using a PBL and they need help with that.”
Use is increasing
The Patient Federation wants to provide this help together with the MedMij Foundation via the information point. According to Marc van Dijk, director of MedMij, the increasing use of PBL makes it necessary to set up a source of information. “PGO use is increasing and with it the questions we receive at MedMij from healthcare providers and healthcare users. Questions about retrieving medical data via DigiD, about safety and about what exactly MedMij does.”
