MADRID – Fuel prices in Spain have been rising for months and petrol prices have risen again this week, but diesel prices have fallen for the second week in a row. For weeks, all records for the price per liter are broken, but diesel is now cheaper than petrol again, according to the Weekly Oil Bulletin of the European Union. Since 1 April, everyone will immediately receive a 0.20 euro/litre discount at checkout. The prices listed below are without that extra discount that you only get at the time of checkout at the pump.
In the Weekly Oil Bulletin of the European Union, the course of the (average) fuel prices maintained within the European Union. Diesel is currently no longer more expensive than petrol, but is still 38% higher than last year, while petrol is 29%.
Average cost in Spain right now a liter of petrol (gasolina) 1,940 euros while a liter of diesel (gasóleo) 1,867 euros costs. Since 1 April, the extra discount of 0.20 euros has been added, so that at the checkout, petrol is 1,740 euros and a liter of diesel 1,667 euros.
ATTENTION: Since Friday April 1 and until June 30, 2022, fuel prices are cheaper because the Spanish government gives 0.20 euros per liter discount at the pump. This discount is immediately deducted from the price to be paid after refueling.
With these prices it currently costs to fill a 55-litre tank of petrol 106.70 euros which is 30 euros more than at the beginning of 2022. Currently, filling a 55-liter tank diesel 102,69 euro which is 32 euros more than at the beginning of 2022. PLEASE NOTE: If we deduct the 0.20 euros per liter discount, filling a 55-litre tank of petrol at the pump costs 95.70 euros and a 55-litre tank of diesel costs 91.69 euros.

The old petrol price record of September 3, 2012 with 1,522 euros/litre was broken on February 3, 2022 with 1,538 euros/litre. The old record of the diesel price of September 3, 2012 of 1,445 euros/litre has now also been broken. In both cases, prices have continued to rise since then.
