Wimbledon cancellation
The Czech, double Wimbledon winner, expressed sadness over the cancellation of the Grand Slam tournament.
Petra Kvitova is currently competing in an exhibition tournament in the Czech Republic.

“Among all the cancellations, learning that Wimbledon was canceled was the most painful news for me,” said Petra Kvitova, 12th in the world, on the sidelines of an exhibition tournament in Prague attended by the best Czechs.

“I’m not saying that I cried when I heard the news, but I was quite disgusted. I think the reason is pretty clear, “added the 30-year-old who won Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014.

Kvitova participates in a closed-door tournament in Prague, which is subject to strict sanitary measures and brings together most of the best Czech players.

“The biggest and most important tournament”
Her compatriot Barbora Strycova, semi-finalist last year in singles, admitted that “the atmosphere of the tournament” would be “missed”.

The professional male (ATP) and female (WTA) circuits have been stopped since mid-March and at least until the end of July, but small exhibition tournaments are starting to be organized, as last week in Florida, this week in the Czech Republic and soon in the Balkans, to allow players to regain a little taste for competition.
