Petkov threw the glove at Radev. He wants the CIS for Northern Macedonia

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov threw down the gauntlet of President Rumen Radev. He asked the head of state to convene a National Security Advisory Council on the state of negotiations between Bulgaria and the Republic of Northern Macedonia.

The Prime Minister stressed in a special video address that the Bulgarian government will not do anything without a broad national agreement and in accordance with the coalition agreement.

“All parties, all services and the presidential institution should take part in the National Security Advisory Council. The Foreign Ministry should submit a report on the state of negotiations between Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia. This report will be discussed at the regular coalition council next week,” he said.

Kiril Petkov confirms that the cabinet will not do anything on the basis of external pressure and before full understanding at the level of coalition council, in-depth discussion in the CIS, as well as a clear and confirmed position by the highest body in this country: the Bulgarian Parliament.

“Only the National Assembly has the final legitimate mandate on the topic of Northern Macedonia, and this must be absolutely clear to the entire Bulgarian society and to our external partners,” Petkov concluded.
