Peter Molyneux’s NFT game raises $53 million

Last week it was announced that Peter Molyneux, computer game maker known for games like Fable in Black & White, is working on a blockchain and NFT game. The game has since raised $53 million.

Molyneuz’s new game will be called Legacy. In the game, players can keep and manage a village and send their villagers to a factory to work on digital products. Players can then sell these for crypto. In addition, players get Legacy Keys that they can lend to new players and they can start a partnership.

According to a blog post from 22cans Legacy is “an innovative new game that pushes the boundaries of Blockchain Gaming” and “a creative dream come true for an entrepreneur.”

It is still unclear whether LegacyCoin has real world value and is tradable with others on a 3rd party marketplace. Although this may be the goal as the game is about blockchain.

Game may have been in development for two years

The most expensive imaginary piece is currently called London and has been bought for a whopping $900,000. The game has been in development since 2019, but was officially announced last week. The game is under development at the UK studio Peter Molyneux called 22cans.

Legacy doesn’t have an official release date yet, but is slated to be released in 2022.
