In the early evening it was rumored in the audience that the festival was over. “I had no press ID and therefore no access to the right information,” says Krones looking back. “But since many went home and everyone was soaking wet, I also gave up and went home.” Of course, all the bands would have played afterwards, just without them Main Post Journalists “When I got home completely, I had to write 30 or 40 lines. My first work wasn’t my best. ”
“When I was in my late twenties, I was finally faced with the choice: forever a pub, for school work or something reasonable.”
Peter Krones–
Fortunately, the young reporter’s mishap had no consequences for him. From then on he was allowed to write reviews about movies, occasionally reviews about concerts. However, anyone who believed that the teacher who had studied (“I finished my studies properly with a state examination.”) Would start off journalistically from now on, you are wrong.
James Krones turned his back on the editorship in 1978, opened two bars in succession and worked as a professional musician. “When I was in my late twenties, I was finally faced with the choice: forever a pub, for school work or something reasonable.” Krones decided on “something reasonable”: fortunately for him – and for the Main Post.
The passionate athlete (football, handball, skiing, cycling, jogging) has had a decisive influence on the development of the Wrzburg media house for almost four decades, most of which as a manager.
It is by no means an exaggeration to call the KLASSE! Project his life’s work. Krones is the creator of this media education offer from the Main Post. CLASS has been supporting since 1995! media studies in schools. The teaching materials help teachers and students to evaluate media, compare them and identify their strengths and weaknesses. Every year they use around 1,000 school classes with more than 20,000 students. Peter Krones received the Bavarian Print Media Prize in 2002 for KLASSE!

His work as a “marketing” editor was also trend-setting. In this role, the versatile journalist was one of the pioneers in the German regional newspaper landscape. It acted as an interface between the editorial department and the sales, advertising and marketing departments at a time when high (virtual) walls still separated the publisher and the editorial office in most newspaper houses.
Since 2014, Krones has also been responsible for the areas of special publications and corporate publishing. He had previously launched and directed the weekly newspapers “Boulevard Wrzburg” and “nine7”. In addition, the now departing Main Post jack-of-all trades took care of public tasks for the editor-in-chief and management, he said “Godchild Action” his stamp and worked on a voluntary basis in the education committee of the Bavarian Publishers’ Association.
Peter Krones was only satisfied when a topic was really dealt with.
How to balance all of these activities? Quite simply: with team spirit and trust in the teammates. The courageous captain always acted according to the motto of former national coach Berti Vogts: “The star is the team”. Krones is a team worker through and through. He is persistent, determined, reliable and, if need be, relentless. The FC Bayern Mnchen fan, as an experienced game designer, always showed a safe conversation when it was time to give the team new impulses through individual performance. The experienced pacemaker was only satisfied when a topic was really done.
So now it’s time to say goodbye to a distinguished colleague who has become a friend of many. But as it says in a song by Trude Herr, Wolfgang Niedecken (BAP) and Tommy Engel (Blck Fss) so aptly: “You never go so completely”. This also applies to the author of the Main Post book “My music and me”. He will continue to take care of “his” CLASS! Project and the “Action Godchild” in pensioner status. “I will be happy to keep retirement waiting for a while,” says Peter Krones. Not only the editors are happy about this decision!
