Peter Gabriel will release new music this year. That’s what his drummer Manu Katché said in an interview with The Illustrated† It will be the first album in twenty years for the 72-year-old artist from the United Kingdom.
Katché, with whom Gabriel has worked for years, said that the band is currently finalizing the new album and that they want to tour with the record in 2023.
Gabriel performs solo, but also co-founded the band Genesis in 1967. In 1975 he left the group and Phil Collins took over as lead singer. The band scored with hits like Land of Confusion, Mama in I Can’t Dance.
Last month Gabriel already hinted at an upcoming album. He then said that he has a lot of songs that he was trying to get off. He wrote a large part of it during the lockdown. “I’ve got enough songs that I like enough to make a record that I’m proud of,” he said in 2020. When asked if there was an album coming out soon, he replied: “It depends on how. you define ‘soon’, but the answer is yes.”
