Peter Dinklage will star in the film adaptation of the musical Cyrano. In the 2018 musical version, which was shown on Off Broadway, the 51-year-old actor also played the lead role.
Deadline writes that Haley Bennett, who also starred in the musical, will be seen as the character Roxanne. Joe Wright (Darkest Hour) takes charge.
Dinklage, best known for his Emmy-winning role in Game of Thrones, plays Cyrano, a man ashamed of his height. However, the piece is different from the original theater version Cyrano de Bergerac from 1897. In it Cyrano is ashamed of his big nose instead of his height.
In addition to Dinklage and Bennett, Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) and Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline) start playing roles.
The script for the film was written by Erica Schmidt, Dinklage’s wife. A release date has not yet been announced.
