Peru and India will discuss the use of traditional medicine against Covid-19

Lima, Aug 14 (Prensa Latina) Peru and India will work together with the aim of adding traditional Peruvian medicine to the fight against Covid-19, Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti announced today after receiving a donation of medical supplies from the Asian country . – “India has a great capacity for quality pharmacological production, that is why it is the best ally to study the possibility that our Amerindian heritage is part of the fight,” he said, recalling that the vast majority of drugs come from natural inputs.

The Indian ambassador to Peru and Bolivia, Mandarapu Subbarayudu, said that the pandemic leaves as lessons that actions focused on human beings are more important than those focused on the economy.

Also, he added, the disease has demonstrated the need to improve health services throughout the world and to accelerate scientific and technological development.

The diplomat added that his country is prepared to collaborate with Peru on the aforementioned issues and makes available to this Andean country its ability to be a “pharmacy of the world.”

Mazzetti and Subbarayudu participated in the delivery of personal protective equipment for medical personnel, drugs and other materials, donated by India to the Ministry of Health of Peru.

In thanking the contribution, the Peruvian minister stressed that it comes from the people of India, a country that is also suffering from the pandemic, but has a great capacity for organization and production of medicines and medical supplies.
