PT Pertamina (Persero) proposes to remove engine fuel (BBM) type pertalite starting next year and changed to firstx green 92 which is more environmentally friendly.
Main Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati proposed subsidies for pertalite could be diverted to the Pertamax green 92.
The elimination of pertalite is in line with the regulations of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) which state that fuel products that can be sold in Indonesia are at least RON 91.
“We are increasing subsidized fuel from RON 90 to RON 92, because of KLHK regulations the minimum octane number that may be sold in Indonesia is 91,” said Nicke in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VII DPR RI, Wednesday (30/8).
According to Nicke, after the successful release of Pertamax Green 95 early last month, his party is currently in the process of launching Pertamax Green 92 as a replacement for Pertalite.
Pertamax green 92 is a mixture of RON 90 (pertalite) with 7 percent bioethanol (E7). This step is in line with Pertamina’s commitment to support the government to reduce emissions from gasoline.
“So, there are 2 green gasoline, green energy, low carbon which are new products from Pertamina,” he explained.
By launching this green energy, Nicke emphasized not only being able to reduce carbon emissions, but also reducing the budget for gas imports.
“So this is very fitting, one, environmental aspects can reduce carbon emissions. Second, we can fulfill the mandatory bioethanol. Third, we reduce gasoline imports,” concluded Nicke.
