The pilot of Racing Point was due to be present at the FIA press conference on Thursday afternoon at Silverstone, but the team was only represented by Lance Stroll.

A second test for Pérez is part of the FIA protocols established for the return of motor sport activities. However, this is the first time it has been made public that a pilot has been required to perform this procedure.

“Checo is not on the circuit today after an inconclusive result during the COVID-19 test,” the team confirmed.

All paddock personnel must undergo a COVID-19 test at least every five days, as established by the FIA in its protocols for this season.
In the event that Pérez is positive, Racing Point must use one of the Mercedes reserve drivers, this as part of an agreement established between the two teams.
