Tatu Renki is considered by many to be one of the most intriguing and unusual percussionists. At least among those who are in their thirties and come from the Scandinavian countries. Another listener recognizes him as the main reason why Danish groups Reverberation several years ago, the participants took a step in the direction of the dreamy, 80s pop music of the last century, jointly forming an association Glue. Just a few days ago, Tatu Renke’s second album was released Dream, which is the complete opposite of a record Spheres, except that the musician is still and this time completely faithful to the use of the found objects instead of percussion instruments. Many will be surprised to learn that a number of creative tours, as well as artists’ residencies in Finland and Norway, record music created with a vacuum cleaner tube, metal bowls, bottles, plastic waste bins, which sometimes takes the cinema and meditative trips.
The poet, artist and text groups will perform as special guests in the introduction of the concert Orbit co-founder Semyon Hanin. He created an instrument for his new performance, calling it a khaphone. This device is designed as a continuation of the body with percussions that sound in the rhythm of reading the text. The texts find echoes in the disharmonic and at the same time rhythmic hafon sound. The idea of an instrument, which is supposed to be a continuation of body percussion, was born to Semyon Hanin more than ten years ago and was born in reflection on the plastic nature of poetry. The idea was as follows – movement in the rhythm of the expressed words directly affects the percussion installed on the body. In “empty” 2020, the time came to implement this idea. Musician Alexander Alexandrov participated in the creation of the instrument (NOBODY), set designer Rūdolfs Bekičs and designer Rolands Peterkops (Mareunro’s).
