The Premier League experienced a day of surprises. Pep’s Manchester City lost to Wolverhampton 2-1 and added their second consecutive defeat after being eliminated at the hands of Newcastle in the round of 32 of the League Cup. The team led by Pep Guardiola lost its undefeated record in the English competition, however, it is still at the top.
The Citizens took possession of the ball from the beginning, but did not have the necessary clarity. Despite the 23 shots they had (eight on goal), they could not take advantage and the Wolves struck the first blow. Neto attacked from the right and took a cross that deflected off Ruben Dias, just 13 minutes into the duel. Own goal from the Portuguese to open the account.
The locals tried to sustain the result. In fact, City could only score thanks to an incredible free kick by Julián Álvarez in the 58th minute. The Argentine, owner of set pieces after De Bruyne’s injury, scored a great goal. The attacker overcame the barrier with a subtle touch and sent the ball into the corner. A great goal that would not last long, because eight minutes later came a goal from Hee-Chang. The Korean received a pass from Matheus Cunha after a great counterattack and sealed the victory for the Wolves. Despite the fall, Guardiola’s pupils continue at the top of the English competition’s standings, with 17 points.
Another of the surprises of the matchdays was Manchester United’s defeat against Crystal Palace. The Red Devils, who had just won against the same rival 3-0 in the League Cup, fell by the minimum score after a great goal from Joachim Andersen.
Like their rival in Manchester, they failed to take advantage of the numerous opportunities they had (19 shots against eight). In this way, they stagnated in tenth place in the Premier League, with nine points.

Tottenham achieved an important victory, including referee controversy, against Liverpool. The Reds held on for almost half an hour with two players less, but an own goal by Joel Matip in injury time sealed their defeat.
Curtis Jones was sent off in the 26th minute after a VAR review. A crash on Bisuoma after slipping on the ball left the visitor with one less element. Heung-Min Son opened the scoring ten minutes later, however, Cody Gakpo scored parity before the break.
In the 33rd minute, Luis Díaz had scored the first goal of the duel, but the goal was ruled out by the VAR. In the official transmission the offside lines were not shown, which sparked controversy, since what was indicated by the judge was not clearly appreciated. After the duel, the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Board) recognized a “significant human error” in the determination.
Liverpool held on to the draw despite a new expulsion. Diogo Jota received two yellow cards in one minute and left the field in the 69th minute. In that sense, the Portuguese’s first warning was also questioned.
It wasn’t until the closing bell that the Spurs managed to beat a marvelous Allison. Matip tried to clear a cross and nailed the ball, giving the victory to the locals, who climbed to second position in the Premier, with 17 points, the same as Arsenal and one less than City. Liverpool, meanwhile, was fourth with 16.
