People from 35 to 39 years old will be able to get vaccinated from Wednesday | Radio Mallorca | Hour 14 Balearic Islands

The Balearic Islands open vaccination to people between 35 and 39 years old. It is the first autonomous community to start vaccinating this age range, which is already being inoculated in Ceuta, Melilla and in some small islands of the Canary Islands. Starting today at three in the afternoon, the BITCITA web service will allow to reserve time for those born between 1952 and 1986 who will be able to inoculate the first dose of the vaccine as of next Wednesday. They will be able to choose between large vaccination centers and health centers.

The Department has appealed to this population group, which estimates 83,567 people, to book an appointment. The IBSalut has enabled 37,605 new spaces for self-appointment: 27,709 in Mallorca, 3,280 in Menorca, and 6,616 in Ibiza and Formentera. Last Monday the vaccination shift was also opened for the more than 94,000 people between 40 and 44 years old.

Despite being the first community to open vaccination to those under 40 years of age, the islands are still the red lantern in immunization, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health corresponding to yesterday. The islands have 46% of the population immunized with at least one dose, below the Spanish average of 51%. 23% of the population has the complete guideline, compared to 29% of the national average.
