Strasbourg supporters have not sung at Meynau since February 22, against Amiens

Time is long for the Starsburgers. They have not played at home, at Meinau, since February 22 and a draw against Amiens. Since last Monday, Racing has put its staff on partial unemployment during this period of confinement. And while several presidents are stepping up to the plate for a definitive cessation of the championships or for a possible resumption, the Strasbourg president – and member of the executive committee of the Federation – Mark Keller, remains silent. Questioned by L’Alsace, Alain Plet, its deputy general manager, however affirms that “Marc takes part in many exchanges between club presidents”.
“We are ready”
The vagueness persists as for the future of the championship and the activity within the club is largely stopped. “Of our 120 employees, between administrative staff, staff and professional staff (around 80 people), but also employees and players under contract at the training center (40 in all), only four and a half are on call. The others are in partial unemployment or leave, “says Alain Plet. A reduction in staff therefore, as in most French companies. The club coffers, bailed out by the record transfer of Youssouf Fofana to Monaco in January against 15M €, allow the club to take charge of salaries.
But the Alsatian training is ready in case of recovery: “We asked a few to lock their vacation, because we know that when the activity resumes, it may be dense.” The rehabilitation of the land, scheduled for May 25, was continued on this date until we know more. The club remains in uncertainty but refuses to be wait-and-see, as the assistant general manager indicates: “Many scenarios have been worked out, but are not immediately applicable. We therefore have to stop pedaling in a vacuum. We stay in the middle of the pack, enjoy the aspiration and freewheel. But we are ready to step on the pedals as soon as we are told where the line d ‘arrival.” The 11th of the championship is therefore on the lookout. It remains to be seen whether the championship will resume.
