The workers want:
- SSE in all mediums in the public and private sectors. Journalists and media workers must finally stop being held hostage by anarchic working conditions and very low wages. It is noted that in the recent EU directive on “sufficient minimum wages”, member states are invited to strengthen Collective Labor Agreements, so that 80% of the workforce -work covered by them. Information is a good and democratic promise and its servants claim their professional and work dignity.
- Measures to tackle overtime which reduces wages and drives workers into poverty.
- Substantial and effective measures to tackle unemployment.
- National and European support measures to protect incomes and jobs in the private sector.
- Innovation with reliability and pluralism.
- Safety in public transport and workplaces.
The protection of labor rights and the renewal of general labor law is a defense of the principles of Democracy, Equality, Justice, with the ultimate goal of Freedom of the Press, Reliable and Free Information, with rules of ethics, reliability and pluralism.
The Federations are asking their members to take a large part in the strike, and these requests apply to media workers, in the private and public sectors.
