Barcelona’s shooting star Pedri Gonzalez stood alongside Lionel Messi on the Camp Nou lawn last season. Now the 18-year-old hopes that both will play together for Barcelona in the coming season.

He hopes Messi will still be a FC Barcelona player after the European Championship and the Copa America, Pedri said in an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena SER. “But it’s his choice. If it were my choice, I would of course stay.”
Messi, whose contract expires at the end of the month, provided him with a lot of advice and tips, reports Pedri from his first year together with the six-time world footballer. “If the best player in the world tells you something, you have to listen to him.”
Pedri also finds words of praise for his superior Ronald Koeman. “I’m grateful to Koeman for the minutes he gave me,” said the 18-year-old. Pedri was part of the Catalans’ starting line-up under Koeman.
