PC power supply that will not let you get tangled in cables

Manufacturers of power supplies have long been offering models with a modular design, which allows you to use only the cables that are needed in your computer, thereby maintaining order inside the system unit. And Seasonic went further and released a device that allows not only to lay the cables neatly, but also to reduce their length.

A device called Connect was introduced at the end of last spring at the Computex 2019 exhibition. In fact, this is the rear panel of connectors of the modular power supply, made in a separate module, which is mounted on the chassis of the computer case. It looks like a narrow and long box, on the sides of which various power connectors are located. At the same time, it is connected to the power supply itself with only two cables: power and control.

The first power supply equipped with the Connect module was the Seasonic Connect SSR-750FA. In fact, this is a slightly modified 750W Prime series power supply. On the rear panel of the power supply there is a power cable with fairly thick wires and a thin control cable, to which Connect is connected. Further, one 24-pin ATX cable, two 4 + 4-pin EPS, four 6 + 2-pin PCIe, up to ten SATA and up to three 4-pin Molex can be connected to this module.

The Seasonic Connect SSR-750FA power supply unit itself has one +12 V bus, through which current up to 62 A can be transmitted, that is, almost all the nominal power. The novelty has an energy efficiency certificate of 80 Plus Gold, as well as all relevant protection systems. The 135 mm fan with a hydrodynamic bearing is responsible for cooling. The dimensions of the power supply are 140 × 150 × 86 mm.

Unfortunately, the “organizer” for Connect cables cannot work with other power supplies in their current form. Let’s hope that in the future Seasonic will release a similar universal solution for its other power supplies. Nevertheless, for many users, especially owners of cases with transparent side covers, it is very important that the power cables inside their system unit are neatly laid. In addition, it not only looks aesthetically pleasing, but also simply convenient.
