In contrast to rising energy, food and housing prices, the rise in the price of video games is, of course, a secondary issue, but the new situation will freeze. In this case, the rise in prices is not caused by inflation, but is a necessary result of a situation in which development costs are constantly rising due to technological progress. The fact that the price of AAA games set at 60 euros (approximately CZK 1,600) has been unsustainable for a long time has been talked about for a long time (see our article), but we will soon be able to see it first hand.

Already this week, the PC version of the current playstation exclusivity Final Fantasy VII is being released, the price of which is set at 80 euros (approx. CZK 2,000) in the Epic Store. So this is the same amount that the owners of the new PS5 console will pay for this game. Although this game is cheaper on the older PS4, it should be noted that it is a more graphically truncated version, without the additional addition of Intergrade (see our review).
We won’t have to wait that long for the next swallow, you can pre-order the action game Forspoken on Steam, which will be released on May 24th. And others will surely follow.
Needless to say, players don’t like it, of course discussion forums they are calling for a boycott, but it will probably be of no use to them. Thus, postponing the purchase seems to be a better solution. Few drop as fast as digital games, as it is often possible to buy a hit that is only a few months old at half price.
