PBNU Treasurer Mardani Maming Reportedly Becomes a KPK Suspect

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is reported to have appointed the General Treasurer of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) Mardani Maming be a suspect.

Maming, who is also the General Chair of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI), has even been prevented from traveling abroad for the next six months by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

“[Pencegahan] valid from June 16, 2022 to December 16, 2022,” said Head of the Public Relations Sub-Division of the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ahmad Nursaleh when contacted by telephone, Monday (20/6).

“The suspect,” explained Ahmad explaining Maming’s legal status in the letter submitted by the KPK.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata did not speak clearly about Maming’s legal status. However, he explained that the KPK would announce the construction of a complete case to the public when making efforts to force arrest or detention.

“We will announce that we have attempted forced detention, the aim is to provide certainty for the suspects,” said Alex to the media crew, Monday (20/6).

CNNIndonesia.com have contacted Plt. Spokesperson for KPK Enforcement Ali Fikri to confirm this, but has not received an answer.

Meanwhile, Head of the Media Relations Compartment of BPP HIPMI, Anthony Leong, admitted that he had not received any information on Mardani’s legal status.

“I haven’t got confirmation,” said Anthony.

CNNIndonesia.com has also contacted PT Batulicin Six Sembilan, the company headed by Maming. However, the call center stated that they did not know Maming’s status.

PBNU chairman Ahmad Fahrur Rozi also admitted that he did not know about the news of Mardani Maming’s determination of the suspect.

“Sorry, I don’t understand,” he said when contacted.

On June 2, the KPK investigated Mardani Maming regarding a mining business permit (IUP) in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan (Kalsel).

He was questioned because his name was mentioned in the trial of the former Head of Mining and Energy of Tanah Bumbu Regency, Dwidjono Putrohadi at the Corruption Court, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.

Director of PT Prolindo Cipta Nusantara (PCN) Christian Soetio, when he was a witness at the trial, said that Mardani received Rp. 89 billion. Soetio accused Mardani of receiving money through PT Permata Abadi Raya (PAR) and PT Trans Surya Perkasa (TSP).

Mardani, who is a PDIP cadre, is said to have received bribes related to the issuance of the Decree (SK) of the Regent of Tanah Bumbu Number 296 of 2011.

The decree is related to the Approval of Delegation of Production Operation Mining Business Permit of PT Bangun Karya Pratama Lestari (BKPL) Number 545/103/IUP-OP/D.PE/2010 to PT Prolindo Cipta Nusantara (PCN).

However, through his attorney, Mardani denied the allegations made by the Director of PT Prolindo Cipta Nusantara (PCN) Christian Soetio.

“There is absolutely no flow of funds to Mr. Mardani H. Maming,” said Mardani’s attorney, Irfan Idham to reporters, Friday (13/5).
