Paulien Kuipers (47) is a volunteer and has three children (19, 17 and 6). She is divorced but now dating.
“Due to various negative experiences in the past, I have developed a negative self-image. I haven’t felt pretty or feminine for a long time. Now I want to see myself differently. This new look is completely out of my comfort zone; I wouldn’t put on this dress on my own and I hardly ever put on make-up. I remain afraid of the opinion of others, but I do feel more beautiful than ever. I had one condition, I absolutely did not want to be cut ‘short spicy’. That’s how I always had my hair and it doesn’t suit me anymore.”
The hairstylist: “Paulien’s hair is cut nicely around her shoulders, with a lot of movement to make it look loose and fuller. The attack is kept darker. The lowlights through the rest of the hair create some color difference.”
The makeup artist: “At Paulien we opted for a beautiful red lipstick. To give her a little more confidence, we let her eyes speak with soft eyeshadow.”
De stylist: “I opted for a very subtle print. She wears a beautiful dress with a V-neckline to accentuate her body. The earrings are nice and big, precisely because she hardly ever wears jewelry.”
Babette Derks (55) is married and has two children, Pim (24) and Tom (20). She works as a board assistant at a golf club.
“My hair is very important to me. Of course I don’t have a size 36 already, so I always try to accentuate my other pluses. I was looking for a haircut that really suits me. At the hairdresser I always asked for something new, but was not always happy with the result. With this hair I think I finally found it! It was of course already short, but it is cut so differently that I have to get used to my divorce being on the other side.”
The hairstylist: “We used highlights to create a little more color difference in Babette’s hair. She already had quite short hair, so we cut some bangs in the front to see a lot of difference. That gives a very fresh picture.”
The makeup artist: “Babette’s eyes speak even better by using a little more mascara. That upward movement makes her look much younger.”
De stylist: “Babette can handle bright colors and prints very well. With her short hair, I really liked working with a chunky, brightly colored print. The striking earrings finish it off completely.”
