Even before Neymar (31) became the first and so far only professional footballer to break the mark of a transfer fee of over 200 million euros, Paul Pogba (30) had turned the football world upside down.

In the summer of 2016, the Frenchman became the most expensive professional of all time with his 105 million transfer from Juventus to Manchester Turin.
Seven years later, Pogba is back under contract in Turin – but his current focus is not on the sporting events. The reason for this is a positive doping finding that became public in mid-September 2023.
“Pogba at rock bottom,” was the recent headline of the French newspaper “L’Equipe” in its print edition. The midfield star was found to have high testosterone levels – the Italian anti-doping agency reacted to the finding. Pogba is currently suspended until further notice.
A current example from Germany shows that players can be absent for a longer period of time even without confessing to possible doping offenses.
Mario Vuskovic (24) from Hamburger SV played his last game for the former Bundesliga giants in November 2022 – there has been a legal dispute since then, and the players continue to protest their innocence. How long Vuskovic will not be allowed to play is currently unclear.
So Juventus has to be prepared to go without a midfield fixture for a longer period of time. This could make Juve’s interest in a Borussia Mönchengladbach player even greater!
There have already been reports in the past few weeks that Manu Koné (22) is on the list of those responsible for Juve. The Italian record champions could therefore very well imagine signing Koné, a young and promising player who has already gained experience in a top league.
In the past few months, Borussia officials have responded to the Koné rumors, but made it clear that only an “immense offer” would be an option for them. A possible transfer fee of 35 million euros was recently brought into play.
However, the Gladbachers could benefit again if there is a competition for the Frenchman’s services. Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool are also said to have expressed interest.
The omens for Borussia have anything but worsened due to the doping situation surrounding Pogba. Because: If Pogba, as can currently be assumed, is missing for a longer period of time, Juve will be under pressure to make further investments in the transfer market.

Then PSG will most likely try to sign a replacement for Marco Verratti (29), who moved to Qatar. So two people interested in Koné are already under pressure.
The Frenchman is tied to Borussia until 2025. The Foals also have an option to extend the contract for another year until 2026 – so the starting position for Gladbach is ideal with this personnel.
