Patrick Ekwall had a total water panic in TV4’s “Prisoners at the fort”.

When he fell into the water at Fort Boyard, he was rescued by divers.

– I will not survive, Ekwall says he thought in the program.

Sports journalists Patrick Ekwall58, received a proper challenge in Saturday’s “Prisoners at the fort in TV4 – which led to total panic.

Ekwall and the influencer Filip Dikmen27, who was on the same team, was tasked with climbing a rope ladder that led to a seesaw where they would balance out to either end to find the code to the key box.

At first everything went well. But when they sat on the seesaw, panic began to creep in for Ekwall.

At first he sat down in the wrong direction, and just as they were about to rush out towards the edges, they lost their balance and the board began to tip over.

– No, no, no, no, Ekwall shouts in the program.

But they fail to straighten the board and both ended up in the water.

– It was really emotionally difficult because I never learned to swim when I was little, because I had been part of something that made me panic when I had my head under water. I can barely put my head under the water in the bathtub at home, because then I easily get feelings of panic, says Ekwall in the program.

The panic: “Will not survive”

Two divers quickly reach the sports journalist if they are in shock. At the same time, the presenter tries Gunde Svahn62, calm him down.

– They have you Patrick, relax. Feel safe, says Svahn in the program.

Afterwards, Ekwall talks about the feelings of panic.

– As soon as I got under the water, I panicked. I can’t breathe, I can’t see, I won’t survive, Ekwall says he felt.

Although Ekwall thinks it’s sad that they didn’t meet the challenge, he sees it as positive that he took it up.

– In this particular challenge, if not proud, I am at least glad that I dared.

The promise from Gunde Svahn

Before the program, the sports profile told more about why he dared, despite the fear.

“When I was in the play program Fångarna på Fortet for the eighth time, Gunde Svan asked if I dared to challenge one of my worst fears by doing a part over the sea. I agreed after making sure there were two divers nearby to pick me up. But I never understood how panicked I would become in a few seconds,” he writes in one Instagram posts.

“Challenging oneself and one’s fears I have done several times before, but this only scared me to death. And I realized that maybe I should try to do something about it or is it too late to learn to swim?”, he concludes the post.

The support from Anja Pärson: “Can take the course together”

Patrick Ekwall gets a lot of support in the comments section.

Among others Anja Pärson42, who himself suffered from water panic before a competition in the latest episode of SVT’s “Master of Masters”.

“Go you! Just understand the feeling! Awesome you dared to challenge yourself. Maybe we can take a course together,” Pärson writes to Patrick Ekwall.

Fort Boyard” is broadcast on Saturdays at 20.00 on TV4 and on TV4 play.
