A “personal emergency” forced Patrick Beverley to leave the Orlando bubble, where the Clippers are installed for the resumption of the season, Tuesday evening. The point guard is the second player on the team to be absent after Montrezl Harrell (it is also the case of Zion Williamson Pelicans, for – like Harrell – family emergency).
In the fastest scenario (if he continues to be tested regularly during his absence), he will have to observe a quarantine of 4 days upon his return. Otherwise, the quarantine could be at most two weeks for the one who has just turned 32 and who turned this season at 7.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game in 48 games played (all as a starter).
For a departure of less than 7 days, a quarantine of only 4 days is planned, with as always two consecutive negative tests at least 24 hours apart. However, the NBA is doing it on a case-by-case basis.
The Clippers’ first scrimmage is scheduled for Wednesday night against the Orlando Magic. The first official resumption match will be for the men of Doc Rivers July 30 against the Lakers. While waiting for Beverley’s return, Reggie Jackson should take over in the lead.
