With the glow of car headlights, passers-by regulate traffic in streets deprived of traffic lights. In the metro, passengers use their phones for lighting. At Carnegie Hall, Jennifer Lopez suddenly finds herself deprived of the limelight. The crowd had to evacuate the room. “I’m too disappointed, but what reassures me is that everyone came out of the concert safe and sound, there was no jostling”, tells a spectator.
The blackout lasted nearly four hours. The explosion of a transformer located very quickly is at the origin of the black-out. The light came back on around 11 p.m. Funny coincidence: this incident occurred forty-two years to the day after the power cut that affected Manhattan in 1977.
