Part of Europe is abandoning the use of veils in shops

Denmark, Hungary, Norway, Sweden, Britain, Finland and the Netherlands have abandoned the mandatory wearing of veils in shops. In the first five countries, respiratory protection is not even required in public transport (with the exception of London).

Many countries could afford to relax due to the high vaccination coverage. Nevertheless, the rules are flexible in some countries. For example, the Dutch can officially enter shops without veils, but shop owners can determine the rules differently. Therefore, if they require respiratory protection, the customer is obliged to cover his mouth.

Despite the relaxed rules, the above-mentioned countries do not behave too differently in the number of new coronavirus cases in the last seven days from the Czech Republic, where even respirators or nanotowels are mandatory in stores. There are no plans to relax measures to make masks compulsory instead of respirators.

In terms of one million inhabitants, Britain performed worst in the last week. As of October 3, according to Our World in Data, it had 497 cases, followed by the Netherlands (100), Norway (94), Denmark (76), Finland (69), Sweden (59), the Czech Republic (58) and Hungary (49). .

But a more important statistic is the number of deaths. Britain had 1.69 per million population in seven days. It is followed by Hungary with 0.71 deaths, Sweden with 0.66, Denmark with 0.52, the Netherlands with 0.34, the Czech Republic with 0.33, Norway with 0.29 and Finland with 0.23 deaths.

Unlike these countries, the Czech Republic lags behind in the vaccination coverage of the population. The Danes are the best in this respect, approaching the 90 percent mark (86.68). They can also boast high vaccination coverage in Norway (85.2) and the Netherlands (82.4). This is followed by Sweden (77.8), Finland (69.7), Hungary (66.1) and the United Kingdom (65.9). The Czechia is only approaching 56 percent. Of the population over the age of 18, 67 percent of people are vaccinated.
