Now that we know that the Tour de France will take place from August 29 to September 20, the great expectation of the moment lies about the dates on which the other major races on the calendar will take place. While the Tour of Flanders should indeed be contested on October 11, in full Tour of Italy, Het Nieuwsblad reveals the dates of the other four Monuments. If none should argue during the Tower, Milan-San Remo (August 9) and Paris-Roubaix (August 16) would take place three and two weeks before the Big loop.
Guimard and the Tour 2020: “The pandemic will have the last word”
Besides the Tour of Flanders, Liège-Bastogne-Liège (October 18) is also expected to argue during the Giro, which we recall that the dates mentioned would be those of October 3 to 25, which could have a big impact on the plateau of Tour of Italy. The Tour of Lombardy would be disputed on October 31, a week after the supposed arrival at Milan.
The Belgian media finally claims that the organizers of the Tour of Spain would be willing to reduce the Vuelta at 18 days (with a deletion of the departure to the Netherlands?), but that those of Tour of Italy would oppose this idea for their ordeal. As a reminder, its director Mauro Vegni said this week that he wanted “a three week Giro in October”.
