The parents of the American journalist Evan Gershkovich, who is detained in Russia, called on world leaders to support their son at the meeting in New York next week and that he be released, France Press reported, quoted by BTA.
“We just want him to come home,” Mikhail Gershkovich, father of the Wall Street Journal journalist, told reporters at the UN headquarters.
“Next week world leaders will meet here to discuss important issues. We call on world leaders to support Evan and what he stands for – the right to freedom of the press and freedom of expression,” added Gershkovich, who was with his wife and daughter . “These are the basic principles of the United Nations,” he insisted.
