Julen’s parents receive 190,000 euros from David Serrano. Serrano, who has been known to have been negligent, has also been sentenced to one year in prison.
Julen collapsed last year at the village of Totalán in a well over 100 meters deep. Spain was under the spell of desperate attempts to reach the 2-year-old child for about two weeks.
70 meters depth
Rescue workers eventually found his body at a depth of around 70 meters. Section showed that he had died of his injuries on the day of the fall.

Owner does not have to go into the cell
Initially, three years in prison was demanded against Serrano. That has become a year. He does not actually have to go to jail. Cell sentences under two years of age are not executed in Spain if it is a first conviction.
