Olga Patricia Illescas Ramírez, commented that they have visited several vaccination centers in search of the biological one, as she considers that the vaccination card may be a requirement for enrollment in school next year.
The Association of Private Schools of Guatemala, which brings together more than 150 establishments, pointed out that at the moment this is not a requirement for registrations; However, each establishment has internal regulations and the application for the vaccination card may be stipulated there.
They added that in the country there are about 5,000 private schools authorized by the Ministry of Education.
Diana Brown, executive director of said Association, assured that the Ministry of Education has not given instructions in this regard, but reiterated that each establishment has implemented measures aimed at prevention, so it does not rule out that some require this requirement.
However, he emphasized that for now you cannot request a vaccination card, since there are not enough vaccines in the country to immunize all students.
Brown affirmed that having the vaccine ensures a collective health, but despite that it is not mandatory for everyone.
On the other hand, the Minister of Health, Francisco Coma reiterated that no one can be forced to be vaccinated and acknowledged that there is no significant progress in the immunization process in that age range.
