No tuition for the next course at the institute they want. That is the situation of seven families whose children are now in friars and still do not have a place to study third of ESO in Alcala la Real. Those affected have organized themselves and have registered a letter in the Antonio de Mendoza Secondary School to find a solution with the help of the center management. The document, to which this newspaper has had access, also has a list of cases. The management and the schooling commission have already requested a third line of third year of Secondary.

The common denominator of the students who are now in a kind of limbo with a view to the 2022/2023 academic year is that in Frailes, where they are now studying, there are only places for the first cycle of Secondary, while the ‘Santa Lucía’ is a Infant and Primary school, which also incorporates the first and second of ESO. In other words, the natural evolution of a student in the town of Sierra Sur is to continue third in ESO in another nearby town, usually Alcalá la Real.

The parents explain to this newspaper that in March they applied to enter the IES Antonio de Mendoza. “In May the list of admissions came out and most of us do not have it. In addition, we know that there is not one in the other institute in the town,” they wield in reference to the IES Alfonso XI.

The families visited the IES Antonio de Mendoza and had a meeting with the director José Hidalgo to transfer a situation already known in the center. “We have requested a new line for the third year of ESO that would solve the problem of the lack of enrollment that affects our children,” they state. At the institute they point out that Education has informed them that they have to wait until July 10.

The parents emphasize that the situation is not new, since it has been dragging on for years in municipalities near Alcalá la Real, as is the case in Frailes. Sources consulted by Lacontradejaén indicate that the will of ‘Antonio de Mendoza’ is also to have a new line in the third year of Secondary. “We do not understand that being a stage of Compulsory Education this situation occurs, with a lack of places,” they sentence.
