Child had burns on 75% of the body.
A 5-year-old boy was killed by his own parents after they repeatedly burned him with boiling water. The case took place in Singapore and the parents, Ridzuan Mega Abdul Rahman and Azlin Arujunah, have now been sentenced to heavy prison terms for the crimes. The child was regularly kept in an animal cage.
The authorities’ investigation proved that the couple, both 28, burned their son with boiling water on four different occasions in a week in October 2016.
In the last attack on the child, in which the minor had 75% of the body burned, the parents waited 7 hours before taking the child to the hospital. It ended up not surviving.
In the court documents it is described that the boy was left caged by his parents, with food and water in plastic bowls, as if it were a dog. The child was punished with pinching pliers, burned with boiling spoons and beaten with the handle of a broom.
Although the prosecution called for maximum sentence and conviction for murder for the boy’s parents, the judge decided to convict them of the crime of aggravated abuse, neglect and aggression. Both were sentenced to a legal cumulative sentence of 27 years in prison.
