Para-archer Guillaume Toucoullet breaks the world record

On the weekend of Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, a internal competition was organized, at the Center for resources, expertise and sports performance (Creps) in Talence in Gironde, between members of the French para-archery team and archers from the Creps archery hope pole .

On this occasion, the Angloy Guillaume Toucoullet, French para-archery champion and doubly licensed at Handisports Pays basque and Archers de la Humade in Biarritz, broke the world record for para-archery in 70 meters.

He achieved a total score of 663 points, beating the previous record by one point. A performance that will not be not approved since this internal competition was not on the official calendar.

No French championship in Biarritz

It is nevertheless a good omen for the French championships in 2021. However, they will not take place, as was initially planned, at the Halle d’Iraty in Biarritz.

Handisports Basque Country and the Harchers de la Humade had been working there since almost two years. This competition was scheduled to take place in March 2020 but was canceled due to containment. There was talk of postponing it to 2021, but the health constraints are such that the two organizing associations were forced to give up.

Tokyo’s hope

Guillaume Toucoullet also keeps the hope of participating, within the French team, in the Tokyo Paralympic Games. And his recent performance puts him in an excellent position to shine there.
