Pandemic worsens the situation after ten years of war in Syria: 1.2 million children need additional help.

Pandemic exacerbates the situation

The corona pandemic has exacerbated the situation of children in Syria. The number of those who need help rose by 20 percent in the past year alone. 65 percent of families said that they could not meet their basic needs and almost 80 percent of the people in Syria live in poverty.

More than 10,000 children have been known to have been killed or injured, nearly 700 educational institutions and staff have come under fire, while half of the health facilities are out of order. Those numbers are the tip of the iceberg. They result in what the UN has been able to demonstrate since 2014, when the verification process was introduced.
