Deputy Secretary General of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Fikri Yasin claims the name of Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir strengthened to be the running mate Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 presidential election. According to him, Erick’s name is stronger among the three other candidates.
The three candidates in question are the Mayor of Solo Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and the General Chair of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto.
“The vice presidential decision is not final yet, but it is strong towards Mr. Erick Thohir,” said Fikri when contacted. CNNIndonesia.comWednesday (18/10).
Meanwhile, regarding the name Gibran, who has recently been widely discussed as Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate after the Constitutional Court granted part of the lawsuit requesting that the registration requirements for presidential and vice presidential candidates be changed to be at least 40 years old or have experience as a regional head at both provincial and district/city levels.
Fikri said that the opportunity still exists. However, he asked the public to wait for confirmation of the name of Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate which will be discussed at a joint meeting with the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM), Thursday (19/10).
“Everyone still has the potential to become vice presidential candidate, but the certainty is to wait until tomorrow. The full meeting will be held tomorrow,” he said.
PAN joined the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) to support Prabowo Subianto as the 2024 presidential candidate.
Apart from Golkar, Prabowo is also supported by three other parliamentary political parties, namely Gerindra, Golkar and the Democrats. Meanwhile, from non-parliamentary political parties, Prabowo was supported by PBB, Garuda and Gelora.
However, until now, Prabowo has not announced who will accompany him in the political contest for the 2024 presidential election.
Meanwhile, the other two presidential candidates already have their respective partners. Anies Baswedan with Muhaimin Iskandar supported by NasDem, PKS and PKB.
Next, Ganjar Pranowo paired with Mahfud MD. They were supported by PDIP, PPP, Perindo and Hanura.
