Combined Businessman Coconut Palm oil Indonesia (Gapki) responded to President Joko Widodo’s plan (Jokowi) who want to take over as well as revoke the land certificate with the status of cultivation rights (HGU) and building use rights (HGB) was derelict starting this month.
Gapki Executive Director Mukti Sardjono said palm oil entrepreneurs support the president’s plan. Moreover, if the takeover could result in new investments in the plantation sector.
“Gapki supports controlling abandoned HGUs to be used for plantation investment that is responsible and sustainable, “said Mukti to CNNIndonesia.com, Monday (13/12).
According to Mukti, Jokowi’s plan needs to be supported because if the land is transferred and it can bring in investment, the impact on the economy will be better. In fact, it can create jobs for the community.
“So that it opens up new job opportunities and has a double effect on development,” he added.
However, he has not been able to provide an overview of the data regarding the amount of land for oil palm plantations that currently have HGU status, but have not been used by their owners.
Previously, Jokowi stated that he would take over abandoned HGU and HGB lands in Indonesia. However, he also did not specify the exact size of the abandoned HGU and HGB lands.
“We will see all the abandoned HGU and HGB, maybe this month or next month I will start revoking them one by one,” said Jokowi at the Opening of the 2nd Islamic Economic Congress of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).
The head of state said the takeover would be carried out because the concession rights had been granted for a period of more than 20 years and 30 years. However, the land was never used, so it wanted to be given to other parties for cultivation.
“If there are ladies and gentlemen who need a very large amount of land, please tell me. I will find it, I will prepare it, how much? 10 thousand hectares? 50 thousand hectares?” he said.
