PAHO warns of “high risk” of polio recurrence in Peru

Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has warned that Brazil, Dominican Republic and Peru are at “very high risk” of polio recurrence. This is due to the drop in the immunization rate in America against the disease by 79%.

According to PAHO, vaccination coverage in America against polio has dropped to 79%, the lowest level since 1994.

How does polio spread?
